John Walter
wooden accessories

Although a Delawarean since the early 1970’s, John Walter grew up in the Finger Lakes section of Central New York. Early woodworking experience involved helping to maintain a 100-year old cottage on an island in the Thousand Islands. Once in Delaware, focus shifted to his home in Newark, early projects included rebuilding a sun-room and adding a bedroom addition to his home. With full-time careers, first in science, then in retail, John’s woodworking activities have remained a relaxing and rewarding hobby. All of John’s production centers on utilitarian objects. Plant stands, jewelry organizers, CD racks, wall shelves and commemorative plaques made from domestic figured hardwoods such as cherry, maple, walnut and ash become decorative as well as functional. Many hand-rubbed coats of tung oil create a soft luster on all his projects.
