About the artist

For over 20 years, Leonie has been creating beautiful handmade clocks. She feels that making clocks is the perfect marriage of art and function. It is important to her to create something practical, while being inherently aesthetic.

Leonie’s career began after art school. She needed a clock for her new studio and, employing techniques learned in material science classes, she created a prototype. Pleased with the result, she decided to try additional designs using a combination of copper, steel and painted hardboard. The original designs were a hit and sold quickly leading Leonie to a successful career as a craftsperson.

Leonie makes a wide variety of clocks that are modern in design yet warm and pleasing by combining sleek lines with the organic shape and color of copper often coupled with the brightness of polished steel.
