Anthony Buzak

It has been 30 or so years since Anthony Buzak built his first shop project at School #60 in Buffalo New York’s Riverside area. It was in the school’s shop that he discovered how much he enjoyed working with wood. Tony has turned what eventually became a hobby into a furniture-making business. He designs traditional styles such as Chippendale as well as contemporary pieces which have been very well received by the crafts community.

Buzak has an elegant sense of line that is at once sleek and clean without losing sight of wood’s sensual qualities. Delicate and light, his tables have a strong architectural quality that is further enhanced by the painterly mix of woods such as purpleheart, pommele sapele, white ash and charcoal-dyed bird’s-eye maple.

In his contemporary line, Buzak pairs solid wood borders with fields of figured veneers such as curly or quilted maple, lacewood, plum pudding mahogany, satinwood or eucalyptus burl often including ebony inlay.

Over the years, Tony has juried into a large number of national craft shows and has himself served on a number of juries including that of the prestigious American Craft Council .

More recently, Tony has found that he is most comfortable working through selected fine craft galleries . With less time “on the road” he has more time available for design and production. Creations Gallery has represented Tony for nearly ten years.
